She’s everywhere. Movies, television commercials, music videos, and now Beyonce has been named the World’s Most Desirable Woman of 2007 by the most popular online men’s magazine AskMen.com.

AskMen credits Beyoncé for her ability to sell millions of albums, though most could admit that it took Dreamgirls to sell the singer-slash-actress to moviegoing audiences across the globe. I knew she was pretty, but Dreamgirls makes her look downright, uh, is there a bigger word than beautiful? Stunning, maybe?

The top 10 list was as follows:

1. Beyonce
2. Scarlett Johansson
3. Jessica Alba
4. Adriana Lima
5. Jessica Biel
6. Alessandra Ambrosio
7. Shakira
8. Maria Menounos
9. Angelina Jolie
10. Elisa Cuthbert

Beyonce Enjoys Spanish Appeal

When a Spanish-language version of Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” hit a Latino radio station in Phoenix a month and a half ago, listeners liked what they heard — even if they weren’t sure who was singing. “People were calling and saying, ‘Who is that? It sounds like Beyonce,”‘ recalls Ruben S., the afternoon drive DJ at KVIB (95.1 Latino Vibe). “People were pretty surprised to hear it was Beyonce.”

Since then, the track, whose title translates as “Irreemplazable,” has consistently ranked among KVIB’s top five requested songs. Taken together, spins of the Spanish and English versions on Latin radio nationwide have placed the tune at No. 8 on Billboard’s latest Hot Latin Songs chart.

That is well in advance of simultaneous English and Spanish rereleases of “B’Day” scheduled for April, says Mathew Knowles, Beyonce’s father and manager. The Spanish version will have five bonus tracks, including duets with Shakira and Alejandro Fernandez.

A major platform for English, Spanish and Spanglish songs to coexist is Latin urban radio, a format that developed after the reggaeton explosion a few years ago. The latest Latin Rhythm chart features 10 songs released primarily in English.

Los Angeles’ bilingual KXOL (Latino 96.3) is playing a remix of Akon’s “I Wanna Love You” with Tego Calderon, as well as the English and Spanish versions of “Irreplaceable.”

“The people that Beyonce made that song for — we’re bilingual, and we don’t want to be put in a box,” says Pio Ferro, senior VP of programming at KXOL’s parent, Spanish Broadcasting System.

“When you see the people that go out to the clubs and show up at our events, it’s a very urban look: the way they dress, the way they act, the way they talk,” adds Jerry Pulles, KXOL’s music director/assistant program director. “It’s the hip-hop lifestyle.”

A reshot Spanish version of the “Irreplaceable” video premiered last week on “MiTRL,” the video countdown show on bilingual channel MTV Tr3s.

Pulles says, “It kind of comes off a little bit as a novelty, but I think the listeners take it as, ’she’s validating us, and we speak Spanish, and we have a young urban movement and it’s cool to speak Spanish.”‘

Beyonce Almost Lost Dreamgirls Role For Being Too Sexy

Beyonce was almost overlooked for the role of Deena Jones in Dreamgirls because she’s too sexy, director Bill Condon revealed to BANG Magazine.

He said: “Beyonce did come after us, it wasn’t the over way round. We met, I loved her but I still had to question two things.

“One of them was it was a level of acting she had never attempted before, but more than that when you have got such a well developed stage persona, I wondered whether she could adapt to something that was so different.

“If you think of the way she is sexually on a stage. She is so powerful and contemporary, and this was about something very different. It was about withholding.

“She volunteered to audition. She did a screen test, I didn’t even have to put it together. It was very quick, we didn’t see anybody else. She really wanted the part.”

And while Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy picked up a nominations for their supporting roles, there was no nomination for Beyonce for her lead role in the smash hit.

Beyonce’s dreams of a nomination for lead actress were thwarted by nominees Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet.

Beyonce On That Spicey Shakira Duet

Beyonce has explained the reasons behind her decision to record a duet with Latina lovely Shakira.

Talking to MTV, the ‘Deja Vu’ diva said she loved every minute of working with the swivel-hipped star on their new track, ‘Beautiful Liar’.

“I’ve always loved her and I’ve always wanted to work with her and the song fits perfectly,” Beyonce said.

“It basically talks about two women; the same guy is trying to get at both of them but instead of them fighting, they’re saying, ‘He’s a beautiful liar, let’s not fight, let’s stick together – forget him!’ I think it’s a great concept.”

The track will feature on the re-issued version of Beyonce’s latest album, ‘B’Day’.

The singer also revealed she’s recorded brand new promos for five of the tracks on the long-player - which could see all those fans incensed by her Deja Vu video (they didn’t like Bey’s dance routines, costumes or the flashing imagery!) finally placated with an easier-on-the-eye offering.

Bey said, “(The reissue) is a dual disc – there’s music on one disc and videos on the DVD.

“I’m doing five new videos so I’ll have a video for every song and I’m actually starting on those videos (this week) and doing them all in seven days which is really crazy. I think it’s a great concept because people can see my interpretations of the songs when they were written.”

The busy lady, in the UK last night (January 21) for the premier of her Oscar-tipped new flick Dreamgirls, is also in preparations for her B’Day world tour which kicks off on April 30 in Frankfurt.

And it’s going to be a totally girl power event by all accounts.

“This tour is exciting as I have an all-female band,” she explained. “I held worldwide auditions and women from all around the world came to five different cities. I narrowed thousands of women down to ten and didn’t go through agencies because I know there are lots of people who don’t have agents.

“It took a lot of time but I found the most incredible women. I start rehearsing in three weeks and I’m so in love with performing. I love going on tour and seeing fans we’ve had for almost 10 years.”

We can’t wait…

Beyonce Knowles braved freezing temperatures to show off her curves in a strapless dress at the London premiere of ‘Dreamgirls’ last night (22.01.07).

The singer-and-actress dazzled on the red carpet in a shimmering, sequinned gown created by top designer Elie Saab.

However, Beyoncé admitted she wasn’t planning on wearing the revealing outfit all night as the temperature in London’s Leicester Square plummeted towards zero.

She said: “I’m not wearing it for long, but it’s worth the pain.”

The former Destiny’s Child singer also admitted she is hoping for Oscar success in the wake of the film’s hat-trick of awards at the recent Golden Globes.

She added: “I can’t wait to hear what’s going to happen with the Oscars.”

Beyoncé was joined on the red carpet by her ‘Dreamgirls’ co-star Jennifer Hudson - who scooped a Best Supporting Actress award at the Golden Globes - David Gest and Don Johnson the former star of the ‘Miami Vice’ TV series.

In the movie, which is based on the phenomenal rise to success of The Supremes, Beyoncé plays Deena Jones, who was inspired by the girl group’s lead singer Diana Ross.

Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Danny Glover also star in the movie.
